Mad Sheer Khan 2012-2013 : NEW ALBUM - NEW TOUR
After his transposal of the repertoire of Hendrix, «Samarkand Hotel» which attracted considerable attention and his last radical pacifist album "DemoNcracy", here come FAR OUED, hypnotic and irresistible, welcome to the pleasing territory of the "Avant Garde Tradition " ! Far Oued, a boomerang. Hold on to it, the fans of Rahmann, mythical band of the 70s of Mad Sheer Khan, (then Mahamad Hadi) will find again, with the song "Nation", the incomparable style of the Algerian-Persian
multi-instrumentalist , the aficionados hooked on the London electro scene will continue to ride on the sounds of "Nasha" or "Concrete Sunblock" and lovers of the solos of the "Voodoo little son" will be bewitched, like during the tour "In Spirit with Jimi Hendrix." No less committed than the previous album, in the manner of a Woody Guthrie, who tagged his guitar with this message "This Machine Kills fascits", Mad Sheer Khan delivers us "Far Oued".
A message, an album resolutely future-oriented; Far Oued begins with "Within you without you" (G. Harrison), Indian pearl of the album "Sergeant Peppers" by the Beatles in 1967, also being played with a dilruba and inspired by Ravi Shankar(The sitar master, then called Rabindra in the 1930s, played this violin also meaning " Sound of the Heart "). On his return from India on a harmonium George Harrison gave birth to this title, a essential tribute to life.
New website http://madsheerkhan.com/en/
With "FAR OUED" which will be released in May 15th, 2012 (Muséa / Nomad) "The French artist, with Algerian-Persian roots but with a warbling of alter militant world , once again surprises us by his diversity and richness. |

Album “Start from the Dark”, von welchem die Single “Hero” stammt. Ihr letztes Album “Last Look at Eden”, veröffentlicht im Jahre 2009, erhielt viele Fünf-Sterne-Beurteilungen in der ganzen Welt und Großbritanniens Classic Rock Magazine nominierte es für den Award “Bestes Album des Jahres”.
Am zweiten Tag des Thanks Jimi Festivals wird Marcus Miller auftreten, ein weltberühmter Bassgitarrist, bekannt durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern wie Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin oder Luther Vandross.
Nehmt Euch die Zeit, stimmt Eure Instrumente – Breslau Gitarrenstadt!

You arrive with teenagers and hippies, parents with their children and children with their parents - and grandparents, to feel this amazing energy that carries the common edges. I would like to thank everyone who came to the Wroclaw center, it's them who create this atmosphere and them
who put my heart in my throat, when they all raise their guitars at that moment at the end of the song."

"Excuse me while I kiss the sky"
weltberühmten Davidwache (Reeperbahn / St.Pauli), danach tätig u.a. als Roadie, Werftarbeiter,
aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Themen auseinander.
In seinen Bildwelten spiegeln
in seiner Kunst.
Der Ausstellungstitel "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" stammt aus dem Song "Purple Haze"

Hendrix plays Monterey
A Perfect Haze: The Illustrated History of The Monterey International Pop Festival
By Harvey & Kenneth Kubernik
- Santa Monica Press
ISBN 978-1595800602
288 pages hardcover
$45
2011
It's been 45 years since the legendary Monterey International Pop Festival transformed the world of rock music, brought to the public forefront the youth culture, and set the tone for next generation. The event has been heralded as "the epicenter of a youthquake whose aftershocks continue to reverberate through our 21st century culture."
Over the years, many books have been written about the event, although this is said to be the first "official history" with the endorsement of festival promoter Lou Adler and the Monterey International Pop Festival Foundation.
Brothers Harvey and Kenneth Kubernik were only teenagers when the Monterey International Pop Festival took place in 1967. While the landmark event has been chronicled in the 40+ years since that Summer of Love concert weekend, the two present a fresh new perspective on the event.
Their goal for this volume was to document and present every minute detail surrounding the event that they could unearth. This meant not only talking to the artists who appeared, but getting behind-the-scenes sagas and stories from those who attended the event. Those latter insights are probably the most candid.
"The only thing that I asked for, and everyone supported me, is that it's not 200 pages of Otis (Redding) and Jimi (Hendrix) and Janis (Joplin), and 45 pages on everybody else" said Harvey Kubernik, referring to the three performers who made their mainstream debuts at the concert. "Nobody loves Janis, Jimi and Otis as much as me," Harvey later clarified, careful not to lessen the impact their performances had at the festival. "They're the ones who have been the most chronicled, the
most acknowledged. It's just so carved in cement and I think that's great."
The 288-page hardcover volume is as much as historical dissertation as it is a coffeetable-style photographic recollection.
As Harvey was a writer and the former West Coast A&R director for MCA Records, and his brother Kenneth a journalist and former editor of the southern California-based Music Connection magazine, it"s a well written in depth look at the festival and its impact not only on the music culture, but on those who attended and the societal overtones.
One chapter explores British journalist Keith Altham's flight to the U.S. Hendrix was a passenger.
"We drove to London Airport in Mike Jeffery's Rolls Royce," states Altham, noting Jeffery's as manager for the Animals, not Hendrix at the time." We picked up Jimi Hendrix and manager Chas Chandler at their flat and continued to the airport, where Jimi ransacked the book stalls for a science fiction novel."
He continues, "The strange thing about Jimi is that everyone looks at his incredible appearance with a mixture of surprise and amusement, but those who take the trouble to say 'hello' " like the elderly gentleman at the Passport Control " find him charming and conventional.
"Jimi makes friends quicker than most people make enemies. The air hostess on the TWA jet we took was apparently delighted with her unusual charge and spent some time sitting next to him and talking about beat groups.
"On the plane over, the main source of amusement were the various taped music channels played through earphones, and every so often Jimi would throw up an assortment of fingers indicating a new delight on a particular channel. He seemed to get a perverse enjoyment from Bing Crosby, Al Jolson and Durante. But more genuine was his interest in the Bach tapes."
Upon arriving in New York, "without pausing to check in at the Buckingham Hotel, Jimi shot down to the Colony record center and bought half a dozen LPs by people like the Doors and the Mothers of Invention."
In the evening, "we visited Jimi's old stamping ground, the Village, which looks rather like Soho. Jimi pointed out the Club What. We ate at a restaurant called the Tin Angel, met a couple of the Mothers, and moved on to the A Go Go Club, where we sumbled on what, as far as I'm concerned, was a phenomenom. The man concerned is a folk singer called Richie Havens."
The next day, "we left for San Francisco, and our departure was marked by one of those spectacular last-minute appearances by Mike Jeffery, who appears dramatically everywhere at the last minute and disappears just as dramatically.
"We stayed overnight in San Francisco and early the next morning set out to find an 'indestructable' guitar for Jimi. 'I need a Fender,' explained Jimi. 'It gets used pretty hard in act and they are the only make which will stand up to it.' We failed to get the model Jimi wanted, but somehow he later acquired a guitar in Monterey. It was the wrong color but he remedied that by spraying it white and drawing swirling designs all over it with a felt pen."
(Note: In another chapter, Owsley Stanley, the LSD patriarch who became renowned as the "chemist-in-residence" at the event, talks about the guitar as he clarifies the urban legend that Hendrix wrote "Purple Haze" about drugs.
"The whole 'Purple Haze' thing is nonsense," he says. "I have no idea what Jimi meant by the line, nor when he wrote it, but I do know that the acid at Monterey was not it. We called the purple acids tabs, pressed specially to be given away at the Monterey Pop Festival, 'Monterey Purple.' Jimi did seem to enjoy it " he jammed all night long in the long shed after I was able to organize a guitar and restring it for him."
The chapter closes out with Altham's overview of the festival ambience and opening day scene and events.
When we get to the chapter on The Who, the old story of "who plays first " The Who or Hendrix," emerges once again. This time, in Pete Townshend's words, "I couldn't deal with the idea of that, at this critical concert, we might go on after him. And he said to me from his insecurity, 'That's not what you really mean. What you really mean is you don't want me to go on first. You want to be first up there with the guitar smashing.' So I said, 'Jimi, I swear to you, that's not what it's about.'
Brian Jones was standing with me and Jimi started to play. He stood on a chair in front of me and he started to play this incredible guitar, and it goes down in history as a jam session. But it wasn't a jam session. It was just Jimi on a chair playing at the time. Playing at me, like, 'don't fuck with me, you little shit.' And then he snapped out of it and said, 'Okay, let's toss a coin.' So we tossed a coin, and we got to go on first. I went out to sit with Mama Cass to watch Jimi and, as he started doing this
stuff with his guitar, she said to me, 'He's stealing your act.' And I said, "No, he's not stealing my act. He's doing my act (laughs).' For me, it was an act, and for him it was something else. It was an extension of what he was doing."
Critic Michael Lydon concurred, noting The Who's smashing of gear was a planned act designed for dramatic intensity, "no meaning whatever. There was no passion, no anger, just destruction."
Forward ahead to the chapter on Hendrix. And mind you, this is a book covering the aspects, atmosphere and festival performances. All the artists get their own chapter with overview, commentary and glorious photographic support.
The 12-page Hendrix chapter opens with a full page shot of Hendrix (photographer Nurit Wilde) walking through the crowd in his military jacket and vest. There's also double-truck (2 page) photos of Hendrix walking through the festival's booths (photographer Elaine Mayes), backstage with The Who (photographer Henry Diltz) and a performance shot of the Experience from the side of the stage when Hendrix is burning his guitar (photographer Jerry de Wilde). There's also a full-page shot from the side of the
stage during his performance (photographer Jerry de Wilde).
Editorial consists primarily of one and two paragraph commentary from the artists in attendance including Brian Jones, Chris Hillman (The Byrds), Al Kooper, Johnny Rivers, Stephen Stills, Michelle Phillips, Barry Goldberg and Mickey Dolenz. There's a few encapsulated reviews from Michael Lydon (Newsweek), Barry Hansen (DownBeat) and Robert Christgau (Esquire). The authors have even found some audience members to provide their recollections.
"Monterey, for us, was just amazing," says Mitch Mitchell. "Not only was it our first American gig, but the largest audience we'd ever played to. Paul McCartney, bless him, had recommended us to John Phillips for Monterey and we really wanted to deliver. I mean, just 10 months before, Jimi'd been playing in little clubs in New York, largely ignored.
"There was a great atmosphere backstage " all the artists waiting in a huge marquee, wathching the show on monitors. We'd won the who-goes-last toss with the Who and stood watching them, waiting to go on. They were incredibly good, as usual, but we were to on-edge to enjoy it. When Pete Townshend broke up his guitar " which I seem to remember took quite a while, unusual for him " we thought, how do you top this? Mainly due to their excellence, we decdied that it was time to roast-the-fender
again. This was only the second time Jimi had set fire to his guitar.
"When we came off the stage, drenched in sweat, as usual, the other musicians and groups crowded round to congratulate us, not only the audience approval, but that of our peers as well." One of the interesting stories came from Al Kooper, a keyboardist who has history with Bob Dylan, Blues Project and the Butterfield Blues Band; and who was acting as assistant stage manager of the event.
"When I was setting up Hendrix for sound check, I knew who he was," remembers Kooper. Before even reading the English music magazines about him, he played in New York with John Hammond's backing band at the Cafe Wha! And you could tell that he was pretty special. "Jimi knew who I was, so when we met it was quite nice. 'I'm gonna play 'Like a Rolling Stone' tonight, do you want to sit in with us?' I said, 'I would love to play with you but I'm working here, I'm the assistant stage manager.
I think they would look askance if I did that.' Can you imagine what kind of self-control it took to do that? 'But I think it's inappropriate to do it here because I'm working.'" Of course, Kooper later went on to join Hendrix on sessions for Electric Ladyland.

Jimi Hendrix
A Brother's Story
Leon Hendrix with Adam Mitchell
Thomas Dunne Books
Leon Hendrix with
Adam Mitchell
More than forty years after his death, Jimi Hendrix'recently named the greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine'continues to inspire fans. Many have written about Hendrix's life and music, but Jimi Hendrix: A Brother's Story provides a revealing and unprecedented look at this visionary icon: an intimate biography written by Jimi's younger brother, Leon.
Leon Hendrix takes us back to the days before Jimi's amazing rise to fame, beginning with their tough childhood in Seattle, when their fascination with science fiction and UFOs helped them escape a difficult family life. (Jimi insisted his family call him 'Buster,' after Flash Gordon actor Buster Crabbe.) The author reveals Jimi's early fascination with sound, from his experiments with plucking wires attached to bedposts to the time when he got in trouble for taking apart the family radio ('I was
looking for the music,' he explained) to Jimi's purchasing his first guitar'a Sears, Roebuck and Co. acoustic, from a neighbor.
Leon recounts Jimi's early days performing on the 'Chitlin' Circuit,' when Jimi would call from the road to play early versions of tracks for the classic album Are You Experienced, and illuminates the biographical roots of Jimi's most well-known songs. Readers learn about the heady days of sex and drugs that came with Jimi's skyrocketing fame and how Leon felt Jimi's management isolated him from the rest of the family. The author speaks of his own heartbreak, learning of his brother's sudden death
while incarcerated in Washington State's Monroe Reformatory.
Commemorating what would have been Jimi's seventieth birthday, Leon Hendrix's poignant and captivating account sheds new light on a music legend.

SUNDAZED AND EXPERIENCE HENDRIX RECAPTURE THE JIMI HENDRIX VINYL EXPERIENCE!
ROCK'S GREATEST GUITAR LEGEND'S VINTAGE RECORDINGS RETURN TO THEIR VINYL ROOTS WITH HISTORIC 7' SINGLE SERIES
In an historic alliance, the renowned reissue label Sundazed Music has partnered with Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. to release a series of new 7" picture-sleeve vinyl singles featuring unique and hard-to-find vintage performances by Jimi Hendrix.
The ongoing series launches in April with an initial release that combines a pair of historically significant recordings from two different Hendrix 1967 BBC sessions. One is a raucous reading of Bob Dylan's "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?'. Hendrix recorded his version on October 17 for BBC Radio's Rhythm and Blues show. Dylan's original version, one of history's most notable and enduring musical enigmas, wasn't released on a legitimate album for more than 10 years after its first issue. This
Jimi Hendrix Experience version was a highlight of the BBC Sessions double album issued by Experience Hendrix/Sony Legacy in October 2010.
'Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?' is paired with a fascinating, newly discovered take of the Hendrix original "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp," as performed on August 24,1967 on BBC Television's Top of the Pops, just a week after the song's original studio version had been released as a single in Britain on Track Records. In keeping with strict Musician Union regulations, Jimi was to sing live atop the song's instrumental backing track. The Top Of The Pops presenter announced the Experience,
but then 'The House That Jack Built' by the Alan Price Set began to play. A few seconds in, Jimi, ever polite, offered an apology, 'I'm sorry man but I don't know the words...' As panic no doubt ensued within the studio's control room, the program's flustered presenter apologized and implored Jimi to try it once again.
Both sides feature the classic original Jimi Hendrix Experience lineup of Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, and capture the band just as it was beginning to emerge as a major force on both sides of the Atlantic.
As with every release in the series, it will feature a color picture sleeve incorporating rare vintage Hendrix photos that capture the legendary artist's distinctive persona and pioneering spirit.
Janie Hendrix, President and CEO of Experience Hendrix L.L.C. commented: "When the Jimi Hendrix Experience first burst into the world's collective consciousness, it was through vinyl 45 rpm singles. Our vinyl single release program with Sundazed honors that brilliant history and, even expands on it in a very real way. It is traditional yet innovative, as Jimi certainly was."
Bob Irwin, President and CEO of Sundazed Music, Inc. commented: "We are thrilled and highly honored to be partnering with Experience Hendrix on this wonderful series. I'm positively elated that my most favorite musician of all time will now be a part of Sundazed."
In a recording career that spanned only three and a half years prior to his tragic death in 1970 at the age of 27, Jimi Hendrix revolutionized the role of the electric guitar, and radically altered the face of contemporary music. He became rock's first guitar superstar, with an effortless charisma that matched his visionary talent and intense performing style. His overwhelming influence continues to live on in virtually every electric guitarist who has followed him, yet none have ever equaled Hendrix's
talent and imagination.
ABOUT SUNDAZED MUSIC INC.
In its 22-year history, Sundazed Music has earned an international reputation for its painstaking preservation of vintage rock, garage, soul, surf, R&B and country sounds on vinyl, CD and digital download, consistently maintaining unmatched quality standards for mastering, packaging and pressing. The current Sundazed catalog encompasses over 800 titles, including timeless classic recordings by such artists as Jeff Beck, Booker T. & the MGs, the Byrds, Bob Dylan, Albert King, Wes Montgomery,
Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Velvet Underground and hundreds more.
ABOUT EXPERIENCE HENDRIX L.L.C.
Founded by James 'Al' Hendrix, Jimi's father, in 1995, Experience Hendrix, has been managed since its inception by family members personally chosen by Al during his tenure as Chairman. It is the official family company charged with managing the music, name, image and likeness of Jimi Hendrix. As a part of its daily operations, under President and CEO Janie Hendrix, Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix oversee Jimi's timeless legacy on a worldwide basis. In connection with its mission, it produces the
continuing Experience Hendrix tour of all-star musicians.
A newly-found version of the Jimi Hendrix song "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp," performed on August 24,1967 for the BBC Television's Top of the Pops, just a week after the song's original studio version had been released as a single in Britain on Track Records, will be released as a vinyl 45 RPM disc.
The recording will be issued in a partnership between Sundazed Music and Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. It will be the first issue to be released in a series of Hendrix 7-inch discs. The A sides will be comprised of live Hendrix performances that are difficult to find.
Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?" will be the flip side. The famed guitarist recorded this take of the cover version on October 17 for BBC Radio's Rhythm and Blues show. Ironically, Dylan's original version was not released on a legitimate album for more than 10 years subsequent to Hendrix's first issue of the song. This Jimi Hendrix Experience version was a highlight of the BBC Sessions double album issued by Experience Hendrix/Sony Legacy in October
2010.
Forced to play under the Musician Union strict regulations, Hendrix was to sing live over the song's instrumental backing track. The Top Of The Pops presenter announced the Experience, but then 'The House That Jack Built' by the Alan Price Set began to play. A few seconds in, the ever gentlemanlike Hendrix offered an apology, saying, 'I'm sorry man but I don't know the words...' As panic no doubt ensued within the studio's control room, the program's nervous presenter apologized and asked Jimi to try it once
again.
Both tracks showcase the original Jimi Hendrix Experience, with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. Each 45 rpm disc in the series will have a color sleeve with a rare Hendrix photo.
Janie Hendrix, President and CEO of Experience Hendrix L.L.C., issued a statement about the releases, remembering, 'When the Jimi Hendrix Experience first burst into the world's collective consciousness, it was through vinyl 45 rpm singles. Our vinyl single release program with Sundazed honors that brilliant history and, even expands on it in a very real way. It is traditional yet innovative, as Jimi certainly was.'
Bob Irwin, President and CEO of Sundazed Music, Inc. commented: 'We are thrilled and highly honored to be partnering with Experience Hendrix on this wonderful series. I'm positively elated that my most favorite musician of all time will now be a part of Sundazed.'
With a recording career that was cut short after just three and a half years, as a result of his tragic death in 1970 at the age of 27 in England, Hendrix expanded the limits of guitar playing, technologically, sound-wise and when it comes to composition. Decades later, his prowess on guitar and legendary performances are unequalled.
Sundazed Music is driven by its mission for the preservation of vintage rock, garage, soul, surf, R&B and country recordings on vinyl, CD and digital download. The label's catalog has more than 800 titles, including classic recordings by such artists as Jeff Beck, Booker T. & the MGs, The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Albert King, Wes Montgomery, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Velvet Underground and hundreds more.

CD u.a. mit Musik von JIMI HENDRIX u.v.m. !
"Wem gehört die Popgeschichte?" Das Audio-Book mit 6 CDs von Gerd Gebhardt und Jürgen Stark
Beschreibung

bleiben.
Tod. |
